How to Get the Seasoned Angler Badge in How to Really Fish

Seasoned Angler is the first badge in the set that most players never earn: 20,703 holders, a 7.8% rate and no published requirement. Here is where it sits and what that position implies.

What is the Seasoned Angler badge?

It is one of the thirteen badges in How to Really Fish, all of which were created on 27 August 2026, three days after the game was published. When we read Roblox's badge endpoint on 10 September 2026 it had 20,703 holders and a 7.8% completion rate.

The name describes a player rather than an event. First Catch and Kraken Slayer are things you do; Seasoned Angler is something you become, which is why it reads like a threshold rather than a single action. Nothing published states what that threshold is. There is no badge description on Roblox's endpoint, no progress meter we have seen, and no developer post about it that we have been able to find.

If you came here looking for a number to aim at, this page is going to be honest with you instead: there is no published number, and the 7.8% is a population statistic rather than a target.

Where it sits in the badge ladder

Ordered by holders, the set runs from Gone Fishin at 518,675 down to Master Angler at 446. Seasoned Angler is the point where the list stops being generous. Above it: First $1000 at 94,093 and First $10,000 at 28,573. Below it: Stuff of Legends at 7,532, Myth Confirmed at 3,055, Master Angler at 446.

That position is the interesting part. Only about 7,900 more players have reached $10,000 than have earned Seasoned Angler, so two ladders that have nothing to do with each other, money and fishing experience, arrive at roughly the same place in the population. A player who is working up either one is, statistically, at about the same depth as a player working up the other.

Read the other way, this is the badge that tells you what the game is like after a few hours. Everything above it can be reached in a session or two. Everything below it is where the game starts asking for something.

The anomaly in its percentage

Seasoned Angler shows 7.8% against 20,703 holders. First $10,000 shows 8.1% against 28,573. The rates are within three tenths of a point while the counts differ by about 38%, and those two statements cannot both be true of a single shared denominator: if the percentages were measured against the same pool of eligible players, a count that is 38% larger would produce a rate that is 38% larger too.

So the pools differ, badge by badge. We do not know how Roblox computes the figure and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What it means in practice is that you should read these percentages as an ordering rather than as a measurement: 7.8% tells you this badge is uncommon, not that exactly 7.8 players in every hundred have it.

What might unlock it, and why we are not printing a checklist

Candidate triggers are easy to list: a number of fish caught, a total of cash earned, hours played, distinct species landed, a set of quests completed, or a level in some system the description does not mention. Every one of them is plausible. None of them is sourced.

We are not printing a checklist of plausible triggers, because a checklist reads as instructions and a wrong one costs you hours. What we can do honestly is classify the badge by naming style, which is what the developer has actually given us. The set contains event badges (First Catch, Kraken Slayer), three exact money milestones, one idiom about dying, one side system in Camp Cook, a rarity pair in Stuff of Legends and Myth Confirmed, and this fishing-experience track. Seasoned Angler sits on that track with Master Angler, and the two together are the widest spread of any track in the game: from the first rung at Getting the Hang of It, held by 201,503 players, to Master Angler at 446.

How you would know you are close

Roblox shows a game's badges on your own profile when you earn them, and the game's badge list is public, so the arrival of the badge is self-announcing. What we have not seen is any in-game progress indicator for it, and we cannot invent one.

Our collector re-reads this game's badge set every six hours, and the badge ladder lists all thirteen with the count and the published rate beside each one. If the developer adds a badge above Seasoned Angler, or changes this one, that tool shows the change without anyone having to notice it first.

What we have not checked

We have not earned this badge and cannot describe the moment it appears. We do not know whether it counts catches, cash, species, sessions or time; whether it needs to be done in a single run or accumulates across runs; whether progress in a server with friends counts differently; or whether anything in the game shows you how far along you are.

We have also not found a video or a post from a player describing the moment they earned it, which is unusual for a badge this widely held: more than twenty thousand people have it. Anyone who has earned it and can say what they were doing is holding the only piece of information this page is missing.

Finally, we have not resolved the denominator question above. Our figures come from a reading taken on 10 September 2026 and every count in the table is rising, so a page of this site written from an earlier reading can show slightly lower numbers that are not in conflict with ours.
